Chef David Camara
Chef David’s love of food began in his native Yucatan, where he spent mornings before school watching his godmother cook. A move to San Francisco opened his eyes and imagination to the wide variety of cuisines. Over the next ten years, he honed his skills in famed Thai, French and Peruvian restaurants throughout the Bay area. An opportunity to work alongside pioneering Hawaiian Chef Peter Merriman took him to Maui for the next eight years where he developed an expertise working with fish and seafood. After nearly two decades mastering a number of world-wide cuisines, David moved to what he always considered to be the epicenter of the culinary world, New York City. Following a short stint with Michelin starred chef Shaun Hergatt, David was offered the opportunity to put his experience and culinary skills to work creating the inspired menu and concept that is Coco Shack.
